At its monthly meeting on 11/14/2010, the LifeRing Board of Directors approved wording for a Mission Statement. Such a statement is intended to provide a concise description of the organization’s purpose. It is not intended to be comprehensive, but the Board and interested members wrestled with many versions and discussed various subtleties before arriving at a consensus. Here’s the final product:
LifeRing offers sober, secular self-help to abstain from alcohol and non-medically-indicated drugs by relying on our own power and the support of others. We welcome people from all faiths, or none, but our spiritual beliefs, if any, are personal.
LifeRing brings people together via face-to-face and online support groups, and provides sobriety tools through original books, publications and interactive online resources.
